About JES

What does JES (Jewish Education Solutions) do?
In short, we help schools be better. On a consultant basis, we become your partner in resolving a wide variety of issues facing Jewish schools today, utilizing local and national resources. We also present special topics seminars, short courses and shabbatonim.
What makes JES different?
JES applies performance oriented training concepts from corporate American to the objectives of Limudei Kodesh. Cheryl Gordon brings a unique perspective to Jewish Education by bringing together her vast experience in people management, corporate training, and Jewish education. Using the best approaches from each of these areas, she is able to offer fresh and positive solutions to challenges. Can business concepts like quality assurance and goal-oriented classes relate to teaching Torah and tefilah to kids? Absolutely!
What kinds of agencies can you assist?
Old schools. New schools. Community agencies. Community schools. Movement schools. Supplementary Schools. Day schools. All levels. All sizes. Schools with limited professional staff or overwhelmed directors.
Why are new teaching approaches needed?
Everyone knows about the shortage of Jewish professionals. Many times people without any professional preparation find themselves in important roles in Jewish education. Sometimes prinicipals have vast Jewish learning, but they are not trained in educational administration. They need help with the technical aspects of preparing or implementing a curriculum. Sometimes they just need help because there aren’t even hours in the day to “do it all.” New approaches are also needed because the population we serve has changed. The answer is fresh approaches to familiar subjects. By implementing simplified training and support systems, administrators can vastly improve morale and quality in surprisingly little time! Remember, businesses have been using outside consultants for years.

Is your approach denominational?
Denominational, no. Knowledgeable and respectful, yes. JES is committed to Ahavat Yisrael and to enabling Jews to know the incredible joys and values of Judaism. We help religious schools prepare knowledgeable Jews who are passionate about Judaism and Jewish identity. Our consultant resources represent a wide spectrum of Jewish practice.

Can you really help us find teachers?
We can provide tools to help you find and create teachers and develop their teaching expertise. Learn to develop persons with special and related talents to become Jewish Educators.
How do we begin?
Every project begins with a needs analysis. Depending on scope, this may be done telephonically or on site. We will then make formal recommendations. You choose the degree of commitment, long or short term.
