Topic:

INSPIRING OUR TEENS, TEXAS STYLE--Though keeping Jewish teens connected to their communities today is difficult everywhere, it is an even a more daunting task in smaller communities. Yet some amazing and innovative things are happening in at least two Texas cities (El Paso and Houston) that illustrate positive forces at work to strengthen Jewish identity and increase Jewish learning among post bar mitzvah teens within the context of the supplementary religious school.

Cheryl Gordon, BA, MAT, MSJS, specializes in positive solutions for congregational and day schools in communities with limited professional resources. Utilizing a unique combination of eighteen years as a linguist, businesswoman, and corporate trainer with five years in Jewish education, she confronts the realities of the contemporary scene by offering nontraditional and practical approaches to staff development, curriculum design, and program delivery.
